Around 30 people gathered in Camborne Commercial Square this afternoon to demand the Government offers protection for the civilians on the Global Sumud Flotilla. A letter was hand-delivered to MP Perran Moon’s office by Camborne constituents.

The demo was called earlier today after the flotilla of ships was intercepted by Israeli forces on its way to deliver aid to Gaza. This followed a request from volunteer crew members, who have released SOS videos after their kidnap by the the Israeli Occupation Forces, asking people to “contact [their] Government to tell them to end their complicity with Israel”, and to “demand [their] immediate release”.

The flotilla is made up of at least 44 small and medium vessels crewed by ~500 volunteers from 47 countries, and are all carrying humanitarian aid such as food, baby formula, and medicine. At the time of writing, all but one of the ships have been intercepted or assumed intercepted.

Israel last allowed aid into Gaza on 19th May 2025, after a nearly 3-month blockade. On 22nd August 2025, a state of famine was officially confirmed by the Global Famine Review Committee.

I send my whole hearted support and agreement from Edinburgh.

In Edinburgh the police seem to be a bit more sneekit. No one was actually arrested when a large group sat down to protest a few weeks ago. But people were picked up at the train station afterward and houses raided later.
