Mylor Parish councillor Peter Lawrence has been dropped by Cornwall’s largest food supplier following a campaign by activists to expose his extreme antisemitic and anti-migrant views.
West Country Food Service, which provides produce to establishments across Devon and Cornwall, was contacted by a group of anonymous activists several weeks ago regarding Lawrence’s views. The company has since assured the group that it plans to cut ties with his Canara Farm growing company, which has been confirmed by Cobblestone Media.
A leading figure in Farmers’ Movement Cornwall, Lawrence is a vegetable farmer based in the parish of Mylor, where he stood as a councillor for the fascist British Democrat Party in May’s local elections. He was elected unopposed and soon fell into disgrace after attending a demonstration organised by the Great British National Strike, a short-lived far-right campaign. Filmed denying the Holocaust and the existence of antisemitism generally, Lawrence’s rant reached national and international media outlets. An extraordinary meeting of Mylor Parish Council was soon called to discuss the incident, gathering a large audience and further media attention.

Lawrence did not resign from his council seat over the issue and has continued to associate with other antisemitic campaigners. In response, activists have begun informing his suppliers about his record. They include West Country Food Service, the largest food distribution company in Devon and Cornwall, which previously worked with Canara Farm as early as 2014.
Cobblestone reached out to West Country on the matter. A spokesperson for the company said:
“We would like to clarify that West Country Food service has ceased trading with Canara Farm, and we no longer take their produce.
“Any reference to Canara Farm on westcountry.co.uk was removed in February 2026. We are aware that an older website, passionforfood.co.uk, still contains historic references to Canara Farm, and we are working to have this removed as soon as possible.”
In an email to activists last month, shared with Cobblestone, West Country stated their plans to “cease trading with him with immediate effect.” and firmly distanced themselves from Lawrence’s behaviour.
Further details on the establishments to which Lawrence supplies are anticipated.
