Since Cobblestone first revealed that complaints had been lodged with Cornwall Council’s Monitoring Officer about Jude Robinson’s online conduct, the Labour councillor has made a series of abrupt moves to manage her public profile, culminating this week in her complete withdrawal from Twitter.

Robinson, re-elected to Falmouth Town Council in May, has faced growing criticism for sharing posts from far-right figures, including ex-Britain First figure Jayda Fransen, and accounts that regularly publish Islamophobic and transphobic content. Screenshots shared with Cobblestone show Robinson amplifying material describing Muslims as “paedophiles” and “rapists,” and promoting conspiracy theories targeting trans people.

In the immediate aftermath of our investigation, Robinson quietly edited her Twitter bio to remove the line “promoted by Tom Pierce,” referring to Falmouth’s Deputy Mayor and her election agent. A few days later, she replaced her bio with the phrase “controversial, apparently”, a remark widely interpreted as an attempt to trivialise the concerns raised. Now, with her account fully deactivated, Robinson appears to be retreating from the platform entirely.

The formal complaint to the Monitoring Officer, submitted by a Muslim constituent, alleges Robinson’s tweets constitute a clear breach of the councillor code of conduct. The complainant, who grew up in a Muslim household and identifies as queer, told Cobblestone that Robinson’s posts were “inflammatory and deeply hurtful,” adding: “Public figures have a responsibility to represent all their constituents fairly and with respect. Instead, these tweets have sown division”

With the council now actively considering the complaint, Robinson’s sudden Twitter exit leaves open the question of whether she intends to issue a statement, or remain silent as the investigation proceeds.

Cobblestone will continue to monitor this developing story.
